Malay Island is the first cosmopolitan municipality in the province of Aklan. It serves as the capital area of Aklan and part of the North West portion of Panay Island. It is the main gateway to Boracay Island.
After my Boracay Island travel, I stayed in Malay to attend a friend’s wedding. I extended my stay in Visayas to meet some friends and for this wedding. I planned also to visit Kalibo. However, due to increment weather, I opted to stay in my hostel.
All further expenses – hotel accommodation and return flight to Manila , were personally paid under my name. 🙂
Where did I stay?
After in Belmont Hotel, I returned to the main island of Malay. I checked-in at RedDoorz, it was near the port and the wedding event venue.

Though I experienced some issues with the leaking water from my hostel room at RedDoorz, I still enjoyed my stay there. It was quiet and cozy. I am a couch potato so having their TV with all cable channels was a bliss! The weather also wanted me to stay in my hostel room as it was very unpredictable.

I also love that on the 1st floor of my hostel, there is a restaurant which offers delicious dishes. Overall, though I stayed in two different hotels in just a week – one is a luxury, and one is for backpackers, I am still blessed to have that privilege.
As the main goal in Malay is to attend a friend’s wedding, after checking-in at my hostel, I immediately prepare for the wedding. The wedding was at Ximo Suites in Malay.

It was about less than 10 minutes of tricycle ride from my hostel. As I arrived, the wedding ceremony is about to begin.

With my friends from Manila, we happily celebrated a wedding that is out of our town.

We were happy to witnessed an intimate wedding ceremony plus more kwentuhan and kainan ulit! 😀

After the wedding, my friends returned to Boracay and I returned to my hostel in Malay. At last, I can sleep again alone! 😀
I stayed 2 more days in Malay after the wedding, waiting for a better weather to travel to Kalibo. However, the weather did not cooperated. So, I just stayed in my hostel room and enjoyed watching movies! 😀

After movie marathon at my hostel, I made some time to buy pasalubong nearby Jetty Port. Across my hostel is the Caticlan Church, it wished to entered the church but it was closed even on a Sunday.

With a small chance to roam around the area, I returned to my hostel. I also enjoyed our hostel restaurant downstair. From breakfast to dinner, I almost never left the hostel. for these. 😀

The restaurant offers pasta, pizza and delicious picka food. There is also a Samgyupsal option. I enjoy eating alone but Samgyupsal is best shared with friends. So by that time, I enjoyed the restaurant solo dishes. ❤

I never had the time to cross to Boracay Island again due to increment weather. Most probably, my stay in Malay was a staycation after the wedding. 😀
But definitely, I enjoyed this break! ❤

I hope to return to Aklan to visit Kalibo and other parts of Panay Island in Visayas. For now, the experience I had in Boracay and Malay is one for the books! ❤
