Celebrating a 7th Birthday at Hong Kong Disneyland

9–13 minutes

As I started planning our travel in Hong Kong, my own goal was to celebrate the upcoming 7th birthday of my nephew. The planning was about almost a year from the time I booked our flights. However, there is one place in my mind where I want to celebrate my nephew’s birthday. Where? Of course, in the happiest place on Earth – Disneyland! 😍🥰😍

This will be the first time that I also brought my family abroad and Hong Kong Disneyland is entirely the place to be. 😍🥰😍 Fortunately, since we stayed in Tung Chung area, Hong Kong Disneyland is reachable in less than 30 minutes via 2 train stations away. 😌

We started our day a bit late since we wanted to experience the Momentous that from what I knew will be at 8PM. Also, my sister bought a pair of shoes in Citygate Outlets, so it really took some time before going to HK DL.

Pro Tip 💡: Download HK Disneyland app in your phone to check the time of shows including Momentous. From what I read on the internet, Momentous is at 8PM. But when I checked the app, it was 9PM. I also asked the staffs from the popcorn vending machine and they confirmed that Momentous will be at 9PM. We spent a Saturday in HK DL last November 2025.

From Novotel Citygate, we rode the MTR in Tung Chung going to Sunny Bay station. This is what I love in Tung Chung. It is very close to almost all of destinations like Ngong Ping Village, Macau and our favorite Disneyland. 😍

We arrived in HK DL at around 12PM. The queue was long. The crowd seemed like it was not moving from the entrance gate. After about 30 minutes, we reached the entrance gate and just showed our QR codes from Klook. 🥳

Pro Tip 💡: Download beforehand your HK DL tickets in your phone. I forgot to download ours thus while on queue, I kept on downloading our tickets. But the internet near the entrance gates was so slow, we almost not be able to enter on time. So, make sure to have a copy beforehand.

As we entered the gates, we were relieved! 😌 Its time to take more photos and enjoy the theme park and just celebrate my nephew’s birthday. 🥳 We were fortunate that the noontime parade started. It was a perfect timing! 🥳 My nephews were delighted to see the characters from Zootopia, Up, Monster Inc. and more. But for us adults, I was super happy to see the Disney Princess again! 😍🥰😍

After the parade, I tried to search for the perfect headband. But the number of people was too much for me. I just thought that I can just buy the headband in the stores outside. We headed straight to the front of the Disney castle.

Pro Tip 💡 You can buy Disney merchandise online if you opt not to queue inside the the shops. If you stay in Tung Chung, inside the Citygate Outlets at the 5th level is the Disney Treasures shop where you can buy Disney merchandise.

Seeing the Disneyland castle with my family was a different joy. It was a like a dream came true when we were children. It was surreal! 😍🥰😍

Our plan to explore the Disneyland was to do a trip in circle. We planned to start in Adventureland then will be at Tomorrowland. With this strategy, our last stop is returning to Main Street where we can see the Momentous. I thought it was a good strategy so we will not go back and forth from different attractions. But to do ride for all the attractions in this strategy, you must have at least the Premier Pass to enter the attractions fast and of course, enough energy. 😆

However, for us, with family of 7 with Senior Citizen mother, pregnant sister-in-law and 2 kids though energetic but with shorter patience, we cannot ride all of the attractions in just a day, so we take it one at a time. 🥰

But first, to be energize, we need to eat lunch! 😁 And with that, we had our late lunch in Wayfinders Table in Adventureland. 😋 Though there was a huge crowd, we managed to find a table for all. The queue in the counter was long yet fast. I was very much pleased on how they serve the meals to us.

Pro Tip 💡 Buy a meal voucher in Klook for cheaper price. The meals we had in Wayfinders Table were heavy and definitely good for sharing. All meals included Disney character cookies, perfect for dessert. 😋

The meals in Wayfinders Table was tasty and definitely filled our bellies. 😋😋😋 We were ready to ride different kinds of attractions inside the theme park. The Wayfinders Table is near the Lion King show. However, we were not able to make it on the show. 😞

Our first ride was the Jungle River Cruise. The queue was long yet it was perfect! 😍🥰😍We all enjoyed it with all of the animals in the jungle. Our boat captain was really good too! 👍👍👍 With her storytelling performance, we totally enjoyed the cruise. 😍🥰😍 The kids were fascinated on how those figures moved by itself. It was unforgettable! 😍🥰😍

After the Jungle River Cruise, we opted not to pass by at Mystic Manor, Toy Story and Grizzly Gulch as the rides were not too kid friendly as we knew. So, I asked my family if we can ride the Winnie the Pooh attraction in Fantasyland. However, as checked, it was closed. 😞

Thus, we headed to the main attraction of Hong Kong Disneyland, the World of Frozen! The vibe in this place was really amazing! 😍😍😍😍😍 It felt like you were really transported to the Kingdom of Arendelle, the city of Elsa and Anna. 😍😍😍😍😍

Every corner was intricately made and crafted to feel like you are inside a kingdom. 😍😍😍😍😍 If you are a true Frozen fan, you will really enjoyed this place. Our goal was to ride the Frozen Ever After attraction.

However, we didn’t expected the long queue. It took us about an hour to ride the attraction. My 7-year old nephew was like crying due to exhaustion. He wanted to sit or lay everywhere. 🤣

Pro Tip 💡If you will travel with kids, try to bring small toys that they can play with so they will not get easily be bored.

While waiting, we tried the different dessert in the shops like a cookie and Olaf ice cream! I was like a child eating my favorite ice cream! 🍦

The long queue and exhaustion paid off when we ride the attraction. 😍😍😍😍😍 As we navigated inside the castle of Arendelle, we were delighted to experience a different kind of adventure. 😍😍😍😍😍 It was truly amazing and magnificent to had this opportunity. 😍😍😍😍😍

The climax of the ride was when we were like dropping from the top! 😍😍😍😍😍 It was heart-pounding! 😳 I did not know if I will laugh or I will cry! 🤣😭 My 4-year old nephew was like shocked of what happened! 😳 While my older nephew said that he wanted to do it again. His exhaustion like turned to happiness. 😍 After few moments, my younger nephew told my sister that “Mother, it was fun!”. 🤣 It was amazing! 😍😍😍😍😍

After our time in Frozen Ever After, we walked to the Its Small World attraction. This time, we were able to ride with my mother and my pregnant sister-in-law. The queue this time was shorter. I wanted my family to experience this attraction as I knew they will enjoy it. My first time to experience this attraction was when I was in Tokyo Disneyland. 😍😍

It was a joy to experience Its a Small World attraction as it showcases the different parts of the world. Yet, though we were apart, we can always be kind and be respectful of our cultures and heritages. 😍😍

After in Fantasyland, we rested for some minutes and enjoyed our boxes of popcorn. In the meal voucher I bought in Klook, it includes caramel popcorn. Somehow perfect to energize you more. 🍿🍿🍿

It was around 7PM when walked again and headed to Tomorrowland. It was our last stop before going to the Main Street for Momentous. We headed straight to the Iron Man Experience. Thankfully, the queue was shorter. In some minutes, we were able to try the Iron Man Experience. 🚀

This attraction is a 3-D ride. You will just sit, buckle your seatbelt and in my first impression was to relax. But it was not like that! It felt like you will fly from your seats. You were like being taken in a ship with Iron Man saving a city. It was fantastic! 😍😍😍

With every drop and fly, our seats were doing the same! It was like riding a rollercoaster but you are just sitting in one place. My nephew and I kept on shouting as we were like thrown in different high locations. 🤣😂

After our surreal Iron Man Experience, we headed to the Main Street for the Momentous. But were actually late! It was too crowded, we did not had a chance to get a nice spot to view the entire Momentous. We headed to the the end of the Main Street near the City Hall. It could’ve been a perfect spot but the giant Christmas tree blocked the castle. 😅

Pro Tip 💡 Head to the Main Street to watch the Momentous at least 2 hours prior. It will allow you to pick a good spot to watch the entire Momentous event. I found that there was like a VIP place to watch the Momentous but I am sure it will cost a lot. Bring a plastic or anything you can sit on in case you will sit at the street. Make sure to have some snacks, too. However, if you do not want to be hassled on the way out, try to pick the spot near the City Hall as it was nearer to the exit.

The Christmas season started in Hong Kong Disneyland when we were there by mid-November. So this giant Christmas tree was a major disturbance if you will sit at the end of the Main Street part.

Nevertheless, since my mother, my pregnant sister-in-law and the 2 kids were exhausted, we chose just to sit in the stairs. A bit disappointed in our spot but who am I to complain? 😇 We had the best birthday of nephew. Instead of focusing on the not-so-good part, we used the time to sit and rest while waiting for the Momentous.

When the Momentous started at 9PM, the whole theme park gone dark and the drone lights started to glow. 🤩🤩🤩 Different fireworks appeared. The Disney songs made us reminisce our childhood and totally made my disappointment to happy memory. 😭😭😭The Momentous is one of a kind! It was spectacular! 🤩🤩🤩

As we exit the theme park, I was truly grateful to experience this special day with my family. Indeed, having a birthday in the happiest place on Earth, hits different. Though it’s not my own birthday, I was very happy. My nephews were very happy too. My sister cried after the Momentous. The magic of Disneyland is very much unexplainable! 😍😍😍😍😍

When we walked outside the park, the crowd was like racing to catch the trains. Good thing, our hotel was just 2 stops away. Also, most of the people will head to the main island, but us, we were in the opposite side, going to Tung Chung.

We reached Tung Chung around 10PM. Exhausted yet very much happy.😍

As the Disney song goes, “Live the moment, love the memory”, it literally felt that way. This special day made us the live the moment. Now, while writing this blog, it made me love the memory. Being in Hong Kong Disneyland is not just about being grand, its about the experience with your loved ones. 😍😍😍

Indeed, I was correct, Hong Kong is better to travel with family specially if you will visit Disneyland. It was a once in a lifetime moment that I hope my family will never ever forget. Up until now, my 4-year old nephew still taught of our experience in Disneyland and wanted to visit another theme park. 😂😅

If given another chance, we would like to visit again the Hong Kong Disneyland or any other Disneyland. We thank God for all the provisions during this day and for the life of my 7-year-old nephew. Celebrating 7th year birthday in Disneyland was such a grateful experience! 😍😍😍

Truly, Disneyland is magical! 💜✨💜
